Viewing Vivid Basemaps

You can view Vivid basemaps in MGP Pro. When Vivid basemaps are turned on, they display on top of the standard basemap and under any imagery that you have selected in the Imagery panel.

Toggling Vivid Basemaps

Vivid basemaps are off by default. If you want to turn on Vivid basemaps, select the Vivid visibility icon.

If Vivid basemaps are hidden, selecting a Vivid basemap automatically displays it in the viewport. Likewise, clearing your Vivid selection automatically hides the basemap.

Vivid Standard 30 cm HD is the default Vivid product.

When you select a different Vivid basemap, MGP Pro will default to that basemap the next time you open the Vivid panel.

Selecting a Vivid Basemap

When you turn on Vivid, you will see the Vivid Standard 30 cm HD basemap by default. You can select a different basemap in the Vivid panel.

  1. Select Vivid. The Vivid panel opens.

  2. Select the Vivid basemap you want to use. The viewport refreshes to apply the new Vivid basemap.

    If Vivid basemaps are hidden, selecting a Vivid basemap automatically displays it in the viewport. Likewise, clearing your Vivid selection automatically hides the basemap.

    To see more information about any Vivid basemap, select information, note, tip.

  3. (Optional) Adjust the selected basemap's opacity using the Opacity slider.

  4. To close the Vivid panel, select Vivid again.

Viewing Vivid Cutlines

Turn on Vivid cutlines to view an overlay of the mosaic imagery segments that make up the Vivid basemap.

  1. Select a Vivid basemap.

  2. Zoom to level 8 or higher.

  3. To turn on cutlines, select the cutlines icon .

  4. (Optional) To view Vivid metadata, select a cutline area. A popup displays the block name, acquisition time (UTC), sensor, and archive catalog ID.

Imagery strips display at zoom level 11. Imagery displays on top of the Vivid basemap.

If you want to see Vivid cutlines at zoom level 11 or higher, be sure to turn imagery off item off/not visible/hidden. If imagery is turned on item on/visible, it will hide the cutlines.

More About Viewing Vivid Imagery

If you have reached your credit limit, and you try to view a Vivid basemap:

  • An error alerts you that you are at your contract usage limit. Contact your account administrator.

  • Vivid is unavailable.
