Taking a Snapshot

Use the Snapshot tool to capture a custom, close-up collage of online images as they appear in the viewport. Completed snapshots are delivered to the Orders panel.

  1. Select Imagery. The Imagery panel opens.

  2. Zoom to level 12 or higher.

  3. From the Imagery Catalog drop-down, select Online Imagery.

  4. Select the image(s) you want to appear in your snapshot.

  5. On the Imagery panel toolbar, select Snapshot . The Order Snapshot panel opens. A preview of your snapshot loads at the top of the panel.

    When you select the Snapshot tool:

    • The Imagery panel locks Imagery panel: locked

    • If imagery is turned off/hidden item off/not visible/hidden, it turns on item on/visible

  6. In the Order Name field, enter a name for the order.

  7. Select your snapshot parameters.

    • Output File Format The output format for image delivery.

      Orders are delivered as a ZIP file regardless of the output format selected.

    • Projection Defines how the satellite imagery is mapped to the earth.

    • Resolution Deliver the order in full or low/screen resolution.

  8. (Optional) If you want to include an annotation group in your snapshot, select Include Selected Annotation. A green check indicates that the annotation is included.

    To remove the annotation, select Remove Selected Annotation.

  9. Select Order Snapshot.

  10. In the confirmation dialog, check that the order looks correct, then select Place Order.

  11. After placing the order, a final confirmation displays your order ID, order name, order date, your order's options, and the total number of credits charged. Select Place Order to finish placing your order or Cancel to make edits.

Track an order's status and download completed orders in the Orders panel. Orders expire after two weeks. See Orders.

More About Snapshots

  • Snapshots are only available for online imagery; you cannot snapshot Vivid basemaps, Legion imagery, or archive imagery.

  • Map rotation does not appear in snapshots.

  • You can download your finished snapshot from the Orders panel. See Downloading Orders.

  • GDAL does not support all text fonts, colors, and backgrounds. Review GDAL's requirements before importing a snapshot.
