Hub 1.5

These release notes include updates made in the 1.5 and 1.5.3 releases.

Capabilities

The following capabilities are part of Hub 1.5:

Annotations

Annotations allow you to identify areas of an image. You can add several types of annotations to an image, including rectangles, polygons, and polylines.

Annotations are associated with an individual image. When you select an annotation group, the Imagery panel locks and the image associated with that annotation group displays in the Imagery panel.

By default, annotations are bright green, with an opaque border and a slightly transparent fill (except for polylines, which do not have a fill property). If you want to change the appearance of an annotation, you can edit its properties, which allows you to change properties such as color, fill, outline, opacity, or line weight. You can also move annotations and edit their shape. You can delete individual annotations and annotation groups, and rename annotation groups.

See Annotations.

API Key Management

You can now generate API keys in the Hub UI. API keys can be used to authenticate a specific project, such as an application. Use the API Key dialog to view and copy your API key, or to generate a new API key. You can also copy example API requests (i.e., WMS, WMTS, WFS, and WCS requests) to use with third-party imagery tools.

Do not share your API key with others or expose it in code or your browser.

For more information about using your API key, see the Hub Developer Portal.

See Viewing and Generating API Keys.

Archive Stereo Pair Imagery

You can now search for and view archive stereo pair imagery in Hub. Archive stereo imagery products are designed for users with advanced image processing capabilities and photogrammetric tools. This product is ideal for Digital Elevation Model (DEM) generation, 3D visualization and feature extraction applications. Archive stereo images are collected in-track, meaning on the same orbit, and are acquired at angles optimal for stereo viewing and manipulation.

In both card and list view, a blue bar identifies archive stereo pairs.

See Using Card View and List View and Using Imagery Catalogs.

ArcMap v1.3.0

An add-in is now available for use with ArcMap v10.7.1 or higher. Stream Vantor imagery, Vivid basemaps, and Change Monitoring (CM) layers.

See https://developers.vantor.com/docs/integrations/arcmap.

See Vivid Terrain and WorldView 3D Products.

Tasking

You can request to task a new image, or a "collect," to meet mission requirements for recent or frequently viewed imagery over a small geographic area.

Use the Tasking panel to request tasking over a new or existing area. Select several options for tasking—such as GSD, priority, start and end dates, and other order parameters—before placing the tasking request. Completed tasking requests are delivered to the Orders panel.

See Placing a WorldView 2D Tasking Request: EO.

Tasking API

Use the Tasking API to request imagery collection over an area of interest (AOI) within a specified time frame. Content production and delivery will occur as imagery is captured, even if imagery is captured for only some part of the requested AOI. When a new tasking order is placed, credits are reserved (not available for use) until the order is fulfilled.

See https://developers.vantor.com/docs/tasking/guides/tasking-guide.

Enhancements

The following enhancements have been added in version 1.5:

Additional Archive Ordering Parameters

The following OR2A output bands have been added to archive ordering:

  • 3 Band Pansharpen

  • 4 Band Pansharpen

  • 4 Band Bundle

These output band parameters are available for all sensors (except WV01), and are available in addition to any previous output bands available for a sensor.

See Ordering Archive Imagery.

ArcGIS Pro v1.1.2

The ArcGIS Pro Add-in for Hub brings georeferenced high-resolution satellite imagery into your GIS project using OGC-compliant web services. The add-in lets you stream imagery and Vivid basemaps. This update removes WorldView-3 SWIR from the sensor filter options and removes the Vivid Premium product from the layers menu.

See https://developers.vantor.com/docs/integrations/arcgispro.

Area Enhancements

Several enhancements have been made to areas in this release.

First, you can now set any area as your "home" area. Your home area is preserved between sessions, so when you log in to Hub, the system automatically zooms to the extent of your home area.

There are also several new ways to create an area:

  • Pre-Defined Square Templates In addition to drawing an area using the rectangle or polygon tool, you can now draw areas using a pre-defined square template in three sizes: 50 sq km, 100 sq km, and 144 sq km.

  • Select Cells You can also use a coordinate grid to select up to 10 contiguous 1-degree cells. Once selected, these cells form a new area.

  • Import Using WKT You can also create an area of interest using an imported well-known text (WKT) string.

Finally, you can now select multiple areas at one time. You can then use options in the With Selected menu to work with your selected area(s), such as zooming to the extent of the area(s), deleting multiple areas, or deselecting multiple areas.

See Areas.

Change Management Analytics Name Update

The Persistent Change Management analytics layer has been renamed to Change Management.

See Change Monitoring (CM).

Copy Coordinates

The Map Pins tool now supports all coordinate formats, including MGRS format. When you paste coordinates in the Map Pins tool, they display in the tool and in the viewport as a lat/long pair.

See Dropping Map Pins.

Export Archive Imagery to a Shapefile

You can now export archive imagery selections to a shapefile, which you can open using third-party imagery software (e.g., QGIS).

See Exporting Selected Imagery.

GeoEye-1 Sensor Support

Exploit Mode and online image ordering now support the GeoEye-1 sensor.

See Exploiting Imagery and Ordering Online Imagery.

Measuring Tool Color/Line Change

The measuring tool has been updated to use a light blue color that is easier to see on the map.

See Measuring Distance.

OGC Web Coverage Service (WCS) Added to Streaming - Imagery API

The WCS endpoint provides download access to the "raw" images that are displayed by the WMS endpoint. While these images are also 8-bit RGB, they are not rendered with the goal of screen display. Instead they can be downloaded in file formats like GeoTIFF for use in other processes. The specification supports subsetting and resampling of the image if needed.

See https://developers.vantor.com/docs/streaming-imagery/guides/wcs.

Ordering from Archive to Online

When placing an archive order, you can now select Ingest to Streaming as a delivery option. This delivers the order to the Imagery panel, where you can view it as an online image. Orders delivered to the online imagery catalog are viewable by anyone on the same account.

See Ordering Archive Imagery.

Order Lifecycle Graphic

The Order Information status panel has been updated with a more robust ordering lifecycle graphic.

See Viewing Order Information.

User Settings

When you select a user interface language, that language setting is preserved to your next session.

See Changing Your Language Setting.

Version Number

The current version of Hub now displays at the bottom of the user profile menu.

See Viewing Your Profile.

Deprecated Features

Vivid Premium imagery will be deprecated in the first half of 2024. As of this release, references to Vivid Premium have been removed from the Hub documentation.

Documentation Updates

The following updates have been made to the documentation in version 1.5:

  • A light mode/dark mode switcher is now available. To switch between viewing the documentation in light or dark mode, next to the Search bar, select Light/Dark Mode . Your browser remembers your preference.

See Using the Hub Online Help.

  • Information about the Image Menu menu, three vertical dots has been moved into its own topic. As the Image Menu continues to grow, this makes finding information about using the menu easier.

    See Using the Image Menu.

Known Issues

The following are known issues in version 1.5:

  • When creating a tasking request, a 100 sq km standard polygon works over certain latitudes but not over others. If you encounter this error, create a custom polygon that is slightly larger than 100 sq km (e.g., 101 sq km).

  • When creating a tasking request, the end use "other" may fail and show as "denied." If you encounter this error, select a different end use from the drop-down.

  • Tasking credits in escrow are not available to the user at this time.

Bug Fixes

The following defects have been fixed in version 1.5:

  • Resolved an issue where pagination did not support more than 250 online imagery results.

  • Resolved an issue to improve Exploit Mode latency.
